Guide.

I just read the book Guide by Dennis Cooper, and it messed me up.
A better association for Guided By Voices, for me, is this:
When I was 18, one of my two or three jobs right out of high school was at a fabric store, cuttin' it up and taking general high-strung-craft-lady abuse. I had a homemade Guided By Voices patch on the hoodie I wore every day. It was hot-pink satin, and the words and image (what was the image??? Can't remember) were in sharpie (yay me).
One day at the store a very very old man came up behind me, while I was cutting somebody's fabric and whispered in my ear in both concern and bemusement, "Are you.... guided by voices?"

Obv. the answer is and was "uhhh, no?"

But now I imagine what could have transpired if I had said yes?

Just make it better.

Last night the moon came dropping its clothes in the street.
I took it as a sign to start singing,
falling up into the bowl of the sky.

The bowl breaks.

Every where is falling everywhere.
Nothing else to do.

-Rumi

Someone brought in a charming Rumi piece this week on the nature of knowledge.
But when I think of the Rumi that I love, it's his writing on the ecstatic experience and the sensation of adoration that comes to mind.
I always know where I'm at by which line fixates me.

(Reading Rumi is the best antidote to sword swallowing.)
